The Lake District Water Colour Courses

The art courses we run are individual coaching courses in watercolour technique and drawing perspective, each individually tailored to your needs. We offer several options.

1. Painting in our Ghyll House Garden Studio. Painting instruction on site is £195 per day per person. It is all inclusive of lunch, teas, and equipment. If applicable it will also include local travel to paint a specific area or building. This option is designed for one or a maximum of two students. The price for two people is £295 per day.

2. Painting at our Local Village Hall.Instruction for groups of 3-10 students are taught at Ormside Village Hall. We will post when these group dates are offered. The fee is £30/day. You bring your own lunch and equipment. We provide tea and nibbles.
You can request your own Group Course, bring your art group for the day, and we will tailor it to your needs. Note: groups are limited to 10 people in order to optimise group interaction and personal support.

3. Staying at Ghyll House.. Bed and Breakfast is £85 per person or £100 for a couple. We have 2 double rooms with a shared guest bathroom.

4. Become an Artist. Come and stay for a month and learn how to be an artist. Paint everyday with daily tuition and plenty of materials and chance to practice and learn. Cost £3000. This includes accomodation, tuition and the use of the Art Studio for the whole month. Some materials are included to get you started but you will need some essentials in order to progress.

If you have non-painting family and friends who would like to explore the area while you paint, there is much to do and see close by. Walking options include walking to Appleby alongside the Eden River, hiking up High Cup Nick or Dufton Pike, and a stroll through Dufton Woods.
